Congratulations to our Eco Warriors for retaining the Green Flag!
Mrs Buncle submitted your action plan and evidence to the Eco School committee in April 2020 and I am delighted to inform you it has passed and been agreed - we have our Green Flag award again! Well done to all of you, I am so proud of this committee, you go from strength to strength.
Mrs L Gasser
On Friday 21st June 2019 we set mammal traps around the school grounds and on the Saturday, our Eco Warriors came back to school to search through all 5 traps to see what was living in the local area (no harm came to any animal during this). Surprisingly, we found that 1 out of 5 traps had been triggered which was excellent news! Inside this trap there was a small wood mouse by our bug hotel in the meadow.
Also we set a moth trap outside our school pond and we did not just have moths in this trap. We also had bugs and caddis flies fall into the moth trap. After we had identified the moths (and bugs) we took it down to St John's Church for the local community to see.
First of all, if you have any environmental issues please let your class Eco Warrior or Mrs Buncle know, so we can discuss the issues in future meetings.
Eco Warrior Focus:
Like last year, we were doing the big battery hunt. In this project you collect batteries in a small cardboard box ,and pass them into the school. The school then recycles all of the batteries and continue to do so until the hunt is over. Last year Duracell were very proud of our school, because out of all the schools who competed in the hunt, we were one of the few schools who kept recycling batteries. We would be proud if this could happen again this year to make Duracell proud of us yet again. Batteries that can be recycled include : AAA AA C and D.
