Our New Candle Holder

Our new candle holder made and presented to the children by our governor, Mr Pearce

Mr Pearce and Mrs Poley joined our assembly in January to present our new candle holder to the children. A candle is used as part of the reflection time in assemblies to help the children focus and reflect upon the values and theme discussed in the assembly. Mr Pearce kindly offered to create a bespoke candle holder for our school.
The candle holder has been produced from many reclaimed and recycled materials, providing a wonderful history behind a new creation. The mahogany plinth was part of a sideboard, the main body is natural stone cut from Yorkstone step treads, the timber risers were part of an old school desk and the candle snuffer is a mix of an old umbrella handle, a light fixing, sliding door finger cup and one end of a coconut!
The children were delighted with the unveiling and are very keen to help with the lighting and snuffing of the candle.
A huge thank you to our governor, Mr Pearce, for all his generosity and his time in producing this beautiful candle holder, it will be a central feature in our assemblies.
