Family Learning Maths Workshop-What a Success!!

On Tuesday 29th September parents and children of Southbourne Junior School entered the world of Digitaria where all the inhabitants commanded an area of maths home learning!

Count Fourways, from the Forest of Thousands, showed the parents and children how we add, subtract, multiply and divide at Southbourne Juniors while Mrs Money the Millionairess taught people how much maths can be taught through stories. Princess Adeline, from the Palace of Infinity, also dropped by to show the children and parents how maths can be useful in the real world, especially when we go shopping, while the Wizard of Digitaria taught us all how to learn about maths online!

The session was a triumph and many parents commented on how much they had enjoyed learning about the ways in which we teach maths and how they can support their children at home. One parent even emailed the school to tell us how apparent it was that the staff had all put 'such alot of time and effort into making the event a success!'

Thanks goes to all the teachers who stayed behind to support the event and the parents and children for coming. Special thanks must go to the fantastic PTA who provided tea, coffee, squash and biscuits and to Miss Lowrey for organising the event!

We are all looking forward to our next Family Learning Session on Tuesday 20th October which will be all about writing!
