Harvest Fesitival and Food 4 All

Our harvest celebrations this year have focused on people's rights to food.

We have worked in conjunction with the Bourne Community College and two other primary schools on our 'Food 4 All' day. (4 schools working together!)

The children spent a day learning about food for different groups of people:

Year 6 - Children's rights to food

Year 5 - World Famine

Year 4 - Local food banks for poverty

Year 3 - Stone Pillow, the homeless

Our harvest service at St John's reflected the learning that had taken place with presentations, poems and diary entries from a group of pupils from across the year groups. It was a wonderful service with the children fully absorbed in the meaning of harvest with the Food 4 All focus.

Some members of our school council delivered the food parcels to the Food Bank in Chichester, along with the other schools involved, and presented the hamper of food and letters to the family made by our Year 4 pupils to feed a family for a day. This was greatly received by the volunteers at the food bank.

Thank you to our school community for all your support.
